Dendrocalamus sinicus - ID#00013
The species was imported from China and grown from seed. "Dragon Bamboo" or Dendrocalamus sinicus has the largest culms of any known bamboo species; with diameters up to 14.5 inches (37 cm) wide, culm walls up to 2.3 inches (6 cm) thick, culm heights up to 151 feet (46 meters). Each culm can weigh up to 990 pounds (450 kg) a piece. One plant eventually consists of about one hundred culms.
